Siddipet: Farmers in the Dubbak Assembly constituency suffered the most as a majority of crops damaged in Siddipet district due to untimely rains were reported from four mandals under the constituency.

According to agriculture officials, who conducted preliminary enumeration after unseasonal rains lashed the district on Monday evening, crops in nearly 4,000 acres were damaged. Most of the loss was reported in Thoguta, Raipole, Mirudoddi and Doulthabad mandals, all of which fall under the Dubbak constituency. Of the total damaged area, sunflower and maize crops accounted for losses in 3,881 acres, while other crops were damaged in a little over 100 acres. The maize crop alone was damaged in 2,356 acres, while the sunflower crop suffered losses in 1,531 acres. The mango crop, which was in the fruit-bearing stage, was also considerably damaged, leaving farmers shocked and worried about their livelihood.

District Agriculture Officer Swarooparani said agriculture officials toured different parts of the district to assess the crop loss. A detailed report would be submitted to the State government on the losses suffered by farmers.

Farmers in Siddipet district have suffered crop losses at least five times during the 2025–26 agricultural year due to repeated spells of unseasonal rains. However, no compensation has been released to them so far, adding to their distress.

Speaking to Telangana Today, Dubbak MLA Kotha Prabhakar Reddy demanded that the State government grant Rs 20,000 per acre as compensation to farmers to help them recover from the losses. He also urged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to release the Rythu Bharosa Yasangi instalment without delay.
