Kothagudem: Unseasonal rains accompanied by heavy gales lashed many parts in Kothagudem district on Wednesday evening throwing normal life out of gear. The heavy rainfall disrupted power supply for long hours and caused heavy traffic jams at Kothagudem town. Many low lying areas and main roads were inundated with rainwater slowing down the vehicular flow on the roads.

Heavy water logging was seen at railway under bridge, at Vidya Nagar Colony and other parts in the town. Vehicular traffic was jammed heavily on the main road at SCCL head office. The traffic jam was caused because of a wall built on a passage leading to the SCCL main workshop, locals alleged. Rain water entered into houses at low lying areas. Meanwhile, mango orchards which were at flowering stage because of the winds and rainfall.
Standing crops like paddy suffered loss due to the rains in Chunchupalli, Sujathanagar, Paloncha, Julurpad mandals in the district.
