Karimnagar: Unseasonal rains coupled with strong winds wreaked havoc in the erstwhile Karimnagar district on Friday night.

While the paddy stored in purchasing centres was soaked in rainwater, trees and electric wires were damaged in a few places due to the strong winds.

Traffic was also affected in a few areas as uprooted trees and electric wires fell across the roads. Traffic on the Karimnagar-Husnabad main road also came to a standstill for a while as trees and electric wires fell across the road at Chigurumamidi mandal. Knowing about the incident, police visited the spot and cleared the fallen trees and wires.

Meanwhile, paddy stored in purchasing centres was soaked in rainwater. The crop was damaged in Vemulawada, Konaraopet, Veernapalli, Chandurthy, Rudrangi and other mandals of Rajanna-Sircilla district.
