Hyderabad: Hyderabad and districts in Telangana State are experiencing an unusually hot spell this time of the year, resembling the peak days of summer in April and May. For the past 48-hours, day time temperatures have been consistently hovering between 36 degrees Celsius and 37 degrees Celsius in Hyderabad while in districts, a few places have already started recording 39 degrees Celsius.

The abnormal spell of heat, however, is expected to abate and temperatures might drop by a degree or two between Thursday and Friday. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD)-Hyderabad forecast, there will be no large change in maximum and minimum temperatures in the next 3 days, as weather will continue to remain hot and dry across Telangana State.

“February 18 and 19 are peak hot days of this current abnormal heat spell with temperatures expected to cross 36 degrees C and 37 degrees C in a few parts of Hyderabad. There could be a slight reduction in temperature ahead between February 20 and 25 but with high humidity, temperatures, however, will continue to touch 35 degrees C in Hyderabad. From February 27 again the temperatures will rise,” says weather forecaster from Hyderabad, T Balaji.
