Hyderabad: Prof. Surajit Dhara, School of Physics, University of Hyderabad, has been elected as a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences-2025.
Prof. Surajit Dhara has made seminal contributions in emerging areas of liquid crystal science and technology, ranging from the fundamental understanding of topological defects and colloidal interactions, topology-enabled new states of colloidal organisations, designing a new class of controllable motile particles for topological active matter, development of liquid crystal microdroplet-based optical microresonators and micro-lasers, discovery of new physiochemical effects and physical properties in ferroelectric and ferromagnetic nematic liquid crystals.
Besides extensive fundamental research, he has commercialised indigenously developed technologies for liquid crystal devices, a press release said.
