Hyderabad: The National Students Union of India (NSUI) University of Hyderabad unit, the student’s wing of the Congress party, on Saturday condemned Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s remarks on the UoH campus wildlife in the Assembly.

Terming Chief Minister’s remarks as “outrageous” and “insensitive”, the NSUI in a statement that was posted on X, said: “Chief Minister’s attempt to justify the reckless auction of 400 acres of ecologically vital land in Kancha Gachibowli, claiming the absence of tigers or deer renders it expendable and branding environmental protestors as cunning jackals, reveals a profound contempt for the region’s biodiversity and ecological significance.”

“These statements are not merely irresponsible; they constitute a direct assault on environmental stewardship and scientific integrity,” it said.

The Chief Minister’s assertion that the lack of large mammals such as tigers or deer justifies the auction was baseless and unscientific, it said.

Demanding immediate reversal of the auction decision, the NSUI UoH unit urged the Chief Minister to retract his deplorable and dismissive remarks.
