Energy Minister G Jagdish Reddy speaking at a media conference at Nalgonda on Thursday.
Nalgonda: Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy has reiterated that he is ready to accept the challenge thrown by Congress leader K Jana Reddy for an open debate on the development of Nalgonda district.
Speaking at a press meet here on Thursday, Jagadish Reddy said though he had already accepted the challenge earlier, he was reiterating it since there was no response from the latter. “Jana Reddy is making such comments and charges only for publicity with an eye on the by-election to the Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly constituency,” he added.
Reacting to the comments made by BJP State president Bandi Sanjay on Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s public meeting at Haliya, the Minister said the overwhelming response from the people should serve as an eye-opener to opposition leaders. “There is no change in Sanjay’s attitude which only exposes his deplorable political thinking. People have shown their desire to stand by the TRS by attending the public meeting in large numbers. The TRS government has become synonymous with development with its achievements within a short span of six years. Besides rooting out corruption, the government made Telangana free of farmers’ suicides,” he added.
Asking BJP leaders whether it is not a fact that their government at the Centre had acknowledged that the fluoride issue was solved in the State, the Minister said both the Congress and the BJP did not have any support from the people of the State.
Stating that there is no truth in the BJP allegations that the government was taking up lift irrigation schemes in Nalgonda keeping in mind the ensuing bypoll, he said the government’s sole intention is to provide irrigation to tail-end areas of the left canal of the Nagarjuna Sagar Project.
“The area under cultivation in erstwhile Nalgonda district has gone up to 21 lakh acres from mere 13 lakh acres due to the measures taken up by the State government,” he said and thanked the people of the district for making the Chief Minister’s public meeting a success.
Nalgonda Zilla Parishad Chairman Banda Narender Reddy, TRS MLAs Kancherla Bhupal Reddy, Gadari Kishore, Chirumathi Lingaiah and others were present.
