Hyderabad: The Uppal Zone Special Operations Team (SOT) police on Thursday busted an illegal medical practice operating in Beerappagadda, Uppal and arrested two persons for violations of medical and pharmacy laws.

Police raided Anjali Pharmacy and First Aid Clinic and found that Banothu Srinu was posing as a doctor without possessing any valid medical qualifications. Another suspect, M Karunakara, was allegedly running the attached medical shop without a mandatory pharmacy licence.

During the raid, police seized medical instruments, various medicines, contraceptive kits, and two mobile phones from the premises. All seized material and the accused were handed over to Uppal Police for further legal action.

A case has been registered, and police said a detailed investigation is on to determine how long the illegal clinic had been operating and whether more people were affected.
