Jagtial: Disappointed over Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Aravind’s failure to ensure setting up of turmeric board, BJP leaders from Mallapur mandal quit the party on Sunday, faxing their resignation letters to party president Bandi Sanjay Kumar.
BJP Mahila Morcha mandal vice-president Thotla Keerthi and BJP mandal secretary Mahender quit the party since Aravind failed in his effots to get a turmeric board in the region. They will join the TRS on Monday in the presence of Korutla MLA Ch Vidhyasagar Rao.
Before the Lok Sabha elections, Aravind had given a letter promising the farmers of Nizamabad Parliament constituency that he would ensure that a turmeric board is set up if he was elected. However, he failed to set up the board even after one and half year of his election as MP, they said.
Since a majority of the farmers were engaged in turmeric cultivation in Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency, Aravind assured the setting up of the turmeric board only with an eye on farmers’ votes to win the polls. He, however, failed to fulfill his promise, the BJP leaders said.
