Hyderabad: Upset over mounting debts and pressure from friends asking for repayment of loans, a man died, allegedly by suicide, in his house in Nallakunta on Thursday.
The man, Surender Raju (43), a native of Warangal, was living in a rented house at New Nallakunta, separate from his wife after a dispute seven months ago. Due to financial constraints, he had reportedly borrowed nearly Rs 10 lakh from a friend, Satyanarayana, and with whom he was also sharing the room. Apart from Satyanarayana, Raju had also borrowed money from Suresh Reddy and Ranjith.
According to the police, about a month ago, Raju left the room without telling the others and was living in another rented room in LB Nagar. The other three, who were searching for him, found him on Tuesday. They brought him to Satyanarayana’s room and warned him of lodging a police complaint if he failed to repay the loans. After his friends left, Raju, who was upset, is suspected to have ended his life by hanging from the ceiling fan in the room.
Based on a complaint from Raju’s sister Sunitha Devi, the Nallakunta police booked a case and started investigating. The body was handed over to the family after the autopsy on Friday.
