Hyderabad: Upset over losing his mother to a chronic illness, a man died by suicide by hanging in his house in Lalaguda, police said on Saturday.

The victim, Abhinay Kumar (28) from Vinobha Nagar in Lalapet had lost his mother Lakshmi recently to illness. Ever since, he was reportedly upset.

Police said Abhinay who was very much attached to his mother, was unable to get over with the loss. He hanged himself from the ceiling fan in the bedroom.

His neighbours who sensed foul smell emanating from the house alerted the police on Saturday, who forcibly opened the main door and found his body in a decomposed state. He is suspected to have died at least two days ago.

The body was shifted to the Gandhi Hospital morgue for autopsy and the lalaguda police are investigating.
