Students and management express gratitude to Michelle Stephens for her noble gesture.
Nirmal: Michelle Stephens, an American donated 50 chairs to a government school at Penchikalpad village in Kuntala mandal of Nirmal district. She came forward to make the gesture after learning about the requirement through the headmaster of the institution on Facebook. The chairs were handed over to the school on Friday.
Madari Yellanna, the headmaster of the school, said that Michelle had sponsored the infrastructure on the occasion of her birthday celebrated recently.
“The American citizen who follows activities of the school on the social network, wanted to do her bit for the institution. She readily agreed to contribute funds for buying chairs, which was needed for the school,” he stated.
A native of Naples in Florida, she transferred the funds to Krishi, a Hyderabad based non-governmental organisation which in turn provided the chairs. The voluntary organisation’s chairman Murahari gave them away to the headmaster at a programme held in the village.
Yellanna, K Babu Rao, school management committee chairman and locals expressed gratitude to Michelle for coming to the rescue of the school.
