Uttam claims Congress victory in Jubilee Hills just a formality
Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy said a Congress victory in Jubilee Hills was a mere formality, citing favourable surveys. He highlighted welfare measures while Minister Ponnam Prabhakar accused the BRS and BJP of forming a covert alliance against Congress
Hyderabad: Though the recent moves of the Congress have exposed the party’s apprehensions over its performance in the Jubilee Hills bypoll, Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Thursday claimed that a Congress victory in the constituency was a mere formality.
The Irrigation Minister, along with Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, conducted a door-to-door campaign in Krishnanagar on Thursday. Describing the Congress win as a “guaranteed victory”, Uttam Kumar Reddy said survey trends were clearly favourable to the party.
Alleging that the BRS had not sanctioned even a single white ration card to the poor in Jubilee Hills, he claimed that the Congress government had sanctioned 40,000 new white ration cards in the constituency over the past 20 months.
Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, who also addressed the gathering, alleged that the BJP and BRS had forged a covert alliance in an attempt to defeat the Congress in the by-election. He questioned the contribution of Union Minister G Kishan Reddy to the constituency. “As someone who represented this constituency twice and now serves as a Union Minister, how much funding has he brought to Jubilee Hills? What has he done for the people here?” he asked.
