Hyderabad: A 42-year-old man, a healthcare worker who was vaccinated at about 11.30 am on Tuesday in the Kuntala PHC of Nirmal District, developed chest pain about 14 hours later and was brought dead to the district hospital. Health officials said preliminary findings were that the death was unrelated to vaccination.

According to an official statement issued by the Director of Public Health and Family Welfare here on Wednesday, the man had developed chest pain around 2.30 am on Wednesday and was taken to the District Hospital, Nirmal around 5.30 am, where he was declared brought dead.


“Preliminary findings suggest that the death seems to be unrelated to vaccination. As per the guidelines, postmortem will be conducted by a team of doctors. The district Adverse Event Following Immunisation (AEFI) committee is examining the matter and will submit its report to the state AEFI committee. The state AEFI committee will in turn furnish its report to the central AEFI committee for taking a view,” the statement said.
