Hyderabad: As Indian Railways prepares to roll out a brand new set of Vande Bharat Sleeper services, buzz is growing about the Secunderabad-New Delhi route being part of the first batch.

Despite there being no confirmation from South Central Railway (SCR), social media is abuzz with speculations that the high-speed, long-distance sleeper train will offer a redefined travel experience between Hyderabad and Delhi.

Coming on the heels of the high patronage that the Vande Bharat Express trains have garnered in a short time, the sleeper service for long distances, promising a more comfortable and faster overnight journey, is highly awaited by commuters.

If introduced, the Vande Bharat sleeper train is expected to reduce the journey time considerably compared to the already popular existing services — Rajdhani Express and Duronto Express, which currently take between 22 to 24 hours to cover the 1,700-km distance between the national capital and Secunderabad. A high-speed sleeper version of the Vande Bharat Express is expected to reduce the journey duration by at least 3 to 4 hours.

The launch of the Vande Bharat sleeper on this route would be especially beneficial for the large number of Hyderabad-based passengers who regularly travel to Delhi for work, education, or personal commitments. For many, the journey currently requires an entire day of travel.

Several railway enthusiasts have been anticipating Vande Bharat Express sleeper variants for quite some time, especially for overnight long-distance travel.

Unlike the current Vande Bharat Express trains, which are configured as day services with reclining seats, the sleeper version will feature rich berths, modern interiors, improved suspension systems, and upgraded safety mechanisms. Other features include Wi-Fi, USB charging ports, and automatic doors.
