Hyderabad: The Hyderabad City Police have been placed on high alert to tackle possible rain-related emergencies and ensure public safety, said VC Sajjanar, Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad City.

The Hyderabad Police Commissioner, along with other officials, including Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Joel Davis, conducted an inspection of several waterlogging-prone areas across the city on Saturday evening.

He directed field-level officers to ensure that rainwater does not remain stagnant on roads and that immediate steps are taken to facilitate the smooth drainage of water. He stressed the importance of swift response mechanisms to prevent traffic congestion and inconvenience to commuters during heavy rainfall.

The Police Commissioner said that the Hyderabad Police would maintain continuous coordination with various government agencies, including the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), HYDRAA, Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), the Electricity Department and other concerned departments to effectively address rain-related issues.

Sajjanar advised people to remain indoors as much as possible during periods of heavy rainfall and venture out only when absolutely necessary.
