Jagtial:  Members of the Velama community have lodged a complaint with the Jagtial police against Shadnagar MLA Veerlapally Shankar for making derogatory comments against their community.

Condemning the legislator’s comments, they demanded an unconditional apology from the MLA by Saturday evening, failing which they would intensify their protests and lay siege to his residence.

They said it was not proper on part of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to encourage such politics by targeting a particular caste.

No political party would survive if such kind of caste-based politics was encouraged, they added, stating that leaders of both the Congress and BJP should respond to the issue.
