Vemulawada MLA demands food processing zone for Kathalapur

Hyderabad: Industries Minister KT Rama Rao responded positively to an appeal made by Vemulawada MLA C Ramesh for setting up a food processing zone in Kathalapur mandal.
Some sarpanches and MPTCs from Vemulawada constituency met the Minister at Pragathi Bhavan on Friday and submitted a representation regarding different developmental works in the constituency.
During the meeting, they specifically appealed for setting up a food processing zone in Kathalapur mandal. There is potential of setting up mango and turmeric food processing zone in government land spread over 344 acres at Ghambipur.
Ramesh, who spoke with the Minister over phone, said establishing a food processing zone in the area would prove beneficial for farmers in the neighbouring localities. By taking up mango cultivation in 36,000 acres, Jagityal was leading in the State. Similarly, turmeric was being cultivated on 22,000 acres in Jagityal, he said.
Setting up a food processing zone will aid in processing both the crops locally, besides increasing the income of farmers. The move would also generate a lot of employment, directly and indirectly, said Ramesh. Responding positively, the Minister assured the elected public representatives to take up the proposal with Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.
