Karimnagar: Scores of devotees thronged the temples in the erstwhile Karimnagar district on the occasion of Karthika Pournami on Monday.

About 50,000 pilgrims thronged Vemulawada Rajarajeshwara Swamy shrine. All queue lines were filled with devotees since morning. Pilgrims performed special pujas by having the darshan of the residing deity.

District Collector D Krishna Bhaskar visited the shrine and performed Deepadanam. Sircilla RDO Srinivasa Rao along with family members performed pujas in the shrine.

Temple authorities performed “satyanarayana vratham’ in two shifts for the convenience of devotees. While mahanyasapurvaka ekadasha rudrabishekarm was performed in the morning, Jwalathoranam and Mahapujas were performed in the evening.

On the other hand, Dharmapuri Laxminarsimha Swamy temple also witnessed huge devotees. Besides Telugu states, devotees from adjacent Maharastra have begun visiting the shrine since 4 am in the morning. After taking a hold bath in the river Godavari, pilgrims released deepams into the waters.
