Veteran cinematographer V Jayaram dies of Covid

Veteran cinematographer V Jayaram passed away on Thursday night after battling with Covid related health complications. He was 70.
Born in Warangal, Jayaram’s contribution to the Indian cinema can be traced back from the times of NT Rama Rao, Krishna, Akkineni Nageswara Rao.
He worked as cinematographer for quite a number of blockbuster hits featuring actors like Megastar Chiranjeevi and Mohan Babu. He further excelled in Malayalam cinema where he happened to work with stars like Mammootty, Mohan Lal and Suresh Gopi. He also handled the camera for various blockbuster hits of K Raghavendra Rao. Some of the movies were Pelli Sandhadi and Major Chandrakanth to name a few.
Jayaram’s first film with Megastar Chiranjeevi was way back in 1985 — the movie titled ‘Chiranjeevi’, a remake of Kannada film ‘Naane Raja’ was directed by CV Rajendran. Mammootty starrer ‘1921’, a war drama, too had brought laurels to Jayaram. The Telangana-born technician also worked for actor late Soundarya’s movie ‘Shiva Shankar’, last movie before her tragic death.
Jayaram lost his wife two years ago. He is survived by his son and a daughter. Several celebrities and veteran actors from south Indian film industry expressed condolences to the bereaved family.
