Hyderabad: Renowned filmmaker Singeetham Srinivasa Rao passed away at Kauvery Hospital in Chennai on Saturday. He was 94.
Rao had been undergoing treatment for age-related ailments at the hospital. His last directorial venture was the film ‘Singeetham’, produced by Nag Ashwin. Notably, he directed a film at the age of 94, earning him widespread admiration from the film fraternity and moviegoers.
Known for his unique and innovative storytelling, Rao was considered one of Indian cinema’s finest directors. The legendary filmmaker created several timeless classics, including ‘Aditya 369’, a sci-fi comedy which introduced the concept of time travel to Telugu cinema, ‘Bhairava Dweepam’, a landmark fantasy-folklore film,‘Pushpaka Vimana’, a dialogue-less film. Through his classics, Rao left an indelible mark on Indian cinema.
