Hyderabad: Former Vice-President of India M Venkaiah Naidu stressed the urgent need to preserve traditional values and cultural roots while addressing a packed literary gathering in Hyderabad.
He attended the second edition of ‘International Ink Bound 2.0’ as the chief guest at Prasad Labs on Saturday. Organised by Kasturi Vijaya Publishers under the leadership of Pamarthi Sudheer Pamireddy, the event saw the launch of several prominent titles.
Venkaiah Naidu launched Dr Praveen Yajjala’s multilingual book ‘Screenplay Master Sukumar’, Vanguri Chitten Raj’s ‘Avemaina Gnapakala? Marchipovadanika?’ and a 48-story anthology titled ‘Ammamma Kathala Khajana’.
Expressing concern that many people are drifting away from indigenous traditions in pursuit of Western trends, Venkaiah Naidu said Indians living abroad often show greater enthusiasm for local customs. Turning to cinema, he said films must blend entertainment with meaningful knowledge and humour, while also maintaining strong language and grammatical standards.
The gathering, attended by well-known personalities from various walks of life, including actor-writer Tanikella Bharani and former Rajya Sabha member Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad, highlighted the close relationship between literature and cinema.
Tanikella Bharani commended the Pamireddy family’s steadfast dedication to promoting literary excellence. The event brought together writers, artists and readers to celebrate regional heritage and creative storytelling.
