Victory Playground beats SBI to enter basketball quarterfinals in Secunderabad
Victory Playground defeated State Bank of India (Hyderabad Circle) 53-38 to reach the quarterfinals of the GM Sampath Kumar Trophy basketball championship at YMCA Secunderabad. Vamshi, Asig and Bilal starred as Victory PG led 26-15 at half-time and sealed the win
Hyderabad: Victory Playground recorded a 53-38 win against State Bank of India (Hyderabad Circle) to enter the quarterfinal of the Level I Annual League Basketball Championship for GM Sampath Kumar Trophy at YMCA Secunderabad here on Thursday.
The winner led 26-15 at half-time.
In the first quarter, Bankmen drew from their vast experience to take a slender 11-10 lead through PB Srinath and Samuel.
In the second quarter, Victory PG tightened its defence, restricting SBI to just four points and in turn playing a fast-paced game, scored 16 points with Vamshi combining well with Asig and Bilal to take a decisive 26-15 lead at half-time. After the change of ends, SBI tried hard but was unable to get past Victory PG defence, whereas Victory PG chipped in with regular baskets to finally win the match.
