Former BRS MLA Peddi Sudharshan Reddy has accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy of embezzling funds in a Rs 380 crore paddy tender scam. He criticised the State Cabinet’s limited action of recovering Rs 66 crore and demanded a judicial probe.
Hyderabad: Former BRS MLA Peddi Sudharshan Reddy accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Civil Supplies Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy of jointly embezzling thousands of crores in a massive scam involving paddy tenders. He demanded a judicial probe into the scam and the recovery of the entire amount from Revanth Reddy.
Addressing the mediapersons at Telangana Bhavan on Thursday, Sudharshan Reddy said the BRS had already red-flagged the scam, which was denied by the Congress government initially. However, he said the State Cabinet had recently admitted irregularities by issuing GO 15 and ordered the confiscation of Rs 66 crore.
He questioned why the government limited action to just Rs 66 crore when the alleged scam was worth over Rs 380 crore.
“They charged an additional Rs 230 per quintal more than the tender value. Why penalise only two of the four bidders? Why is Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy silent on the matter?” he asked.
Stating that the Cabinet issued the orders to recover Rs 66 crore under pressure from Delhi leaders, Sudharshan Reddy said it was meant to cover up the scale of corruption.
“If Rs 380 crore was looted, why settle for Rs 66 crore? This is a deliberate attempt to shield those involved,” he said.
