Hyderabad: Days after the release of the Bollywood film The Kashmir Files, the video of author Rahul Pandita saying MLC and Telangana Jagruthi president Kalvakuntla Kavitha was the first person to speak on Kashmiri Pandits in the Lok Sabha in a detailed way, has resurfaced on social media.

In an interview with NDTV back in 2020, Pandita, who was exiled from his native Kashmir as a young boy, says: “Kavitha Kalvakuntla was the first person I have seen speaking in the parliament on Kashmir Pandits back in 2014. Before that, I had never seen a person speaking about Kashmir Pandits in such detail. It was in such a detailed manner that after her speech, Lal Krishna Advani stood up in Parliament and praised the speech.”

It is a pleasure to see BJP propagandists tearing up Kashmiri files but it should be noted that the VP Singh government supported by the BJP with 85 MPs was at the center when injustice was done to Kashmiri scholars …

The Vivek Agnihotri-directed film is based on the mass killings and exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Kashmir valley by Islamic extremists after 1989. It tells the fictional story of a university student who discovers his Kashmiri Hindu parents were killed by Islamist militants.
