Mancherial: Vigilance was stepped up across the coastal areas of Pranahita river, in view of the week-long foundation day celebrations of Maoist party from September 21 to 27.

Security measures were taken to prevent untoward incidents.

In connection with the celebrations, a round the clock vehicle check has been begun under the aegis of Jaipur Assistant Commissioner of Police G Narender and Chennur Rural inspector Chennur Inspector Nagaraju. Vehicles coming from Maharashtra are being stopped and motorists are frisked at an inter-state bridge at Arjunagutta in Kotapalli mandal.

Narender requested the public not to extend support to the ultras and to alert if they spot suspicious persons in rural parts. He said that details of strangers and suspicious persons would be gathered. He said that the Maoists were following outdated ideologies and advised them to join the mainstream and lead a happy life. He assured that a rehabilitation package would be given if the extremists quit the party.
