Mancherial: Vigilance was stepped up across the coastal areas of Pranahita river, in view of the week-long foundation day celebrations of Maoist party from September 21 to 27.

As per instructions by Ramagundam Commissioner of Police S Chandrasekhar Reddy, personnel belonging to special party, greyhounds and other wings carried out massive searches and intensified vigilance on movement of Maoists at Kotapalli, Nelwayi located the banks of the tributary of Godavari river, with the help of drone cameras. Security measures were taken to prevent untoward incidents.


In connection with the celebrations, a round the clock vehicle check has been begun under the aegis of Jaipur Assistant Commissioner of Police G Narender and Chennur Rural inspector Chennur Inspector Nagaraju. Vehicles coming from Maharashtra are being stopped and motorists are frisked at an inter-state bridge at Arjunagutta in Kotapalli mandal.

Combing forests in Kotapalli and Vemanapalli mandals have been intensified. A tab has been kept at ferry points and entries along the coasts of Pranahita. Inspectors working in Maoist-affected areas are sharing information about strangers with their higher officials, who are giving suggestions and insights to tackle the menace.

Narender requested the public not to extend support to the ultras and to alert if they spot suspicious persons in rural parts. He said that details of strangers and suspicious persons would be gathered. He said that the Maoists were following outdated ideologies and advised them to join the mainstream and lead a happy life. He assured that a rehabilitation package would be given if the extremists quit the party.
