Hyderabad: Hyderabad suffered their second successive loss when they went down to Uttar Pradesh by seven wickets in the Elite Group C Vijay Hazare match at Mullanpur on Sunday.

The Tanmay-led side came up with another poor batting display a day after losing to Saurashtra by seven wickets in their third match. Hyderabad were all out for a mere 149 in 42.5 overs. Yash Dayal shone with the ball for Uttar Pradesh with a fine 5/31 spell. Later, UP chased down the target in 26 overs with seven wickets to spare.

Earlier, asked to bat, Hyderabad failed to put up a fight. Dayal and Ankir Rajpoot (3/27) ran to Hyderabad’s batting order reducing the team from south to 49/7 in 20 overs. While Tanmay (5), Abhirath Reddy (11), Tilak Varma (4) and Mickil Jaiswal (2) departed cheaply, Kolla Sumanth and Chandan Sahani failed to open their account. It was Rahul Buddhi (49 off 63; 5×4, 2×6) and all-rounder T Ravi Teja (26 off 62) who showed resilience and guided the team past 140. Both added crucial 65 runs for the sixth wicket.

Chasing the target, UP got off to a solid start adding 70 runs in 14.5 overs before losing opener Aryan Juyal (34) and Madhav Kaushik in the 15th over. However, Karan Sharma hit an unbeaten 44 off 36 to take his side home.
