Hyderabad: Beijing Olympics bronze medallist Vijender Singh has been appointed as a member of the Asian Boxing Athletes Commission while Rajendran Ravindran has been appointed Chairperson of Referees and Judges Commission Members.

The appointments were confirmed by the Board of Directors of Asian Boxing in line with the Asian Boxing Constitution and its governance structure to support effective coordination, technical oversight, and the delivery of upcoming programs and championships.

“Vijender Singh’s appointment, along with India’s wider presence across key Asian Boxing commissions, reinforces the Boxing Federation of India’s strategic stake in the continental body and strengthens our role in influencing governance, competition standards, and the future direction of Asian boxing,” said Boxing Federation of India president Ajay Singh.

The Athletes Commission will have nine members and will be chaired by Iran’s Seyed Rohollah Hosseini.

The other Indian representatives on the Asian Boxing commissions include Chander Kishore Jerath (Sports and Competition), Smita Kumari (Gender Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Commission) and Charanjith Singh Virk (Judicial Commission).
