Vikarabad crime rate rises 3.31% in 2025; murders, burglaries up

In 2025, Vikarabad district saw a 3.31% rise in crime, with murders, murder-for-gain cases, and daytime burglaries increasing. Road accidents and crimes against women declined. Cybercrime cases grew, and police conducted awareness programmes across the district.

Hyderabad: In the year 2025, the overall crime rate in the Vikarabad district increased by 3.31 per cent, with a drastic increase in murder for gain, murders, and house burglaries during the day.

However, the road accident cases and crimes against women have come down during the year. In the previous year, 3,681 cases were registered by the Vikarabad police, while in the current year, 3,813 cases were registered under various acts.


District Superintendent of Police, Sneha Mehra, said the cases have increased due to a rise in population and awareness of the public’s to seeking help from the police during distress. During the year, 462 persons were convicted by courts for various offences in the district for various crimes and it was possible only through proper and thorough investigations, she said.

During the year, the road accidents have come down compared to previous year in the district. As against 160 deaths reported in road accidents in 2024, a total of 156 people have died this year. “Every life is important; the police are taking all steps to identify the cause of the accident and take measures to prevent it,” said Sneha Mehra.

The Vikarabad police had registered 184 cases pertaining to various cyber frauds in the district in 2025. The SP said the cybercrime police station, with assistance of local police, is conducting awareness programs across the district.
