“I don’t aspire to be a superstar but a marvelous actor who keeps working,” says actor Vikrant Koul who was seen in films like Gold with Akshay Kumar and in Darbar with Rajinikanth, adding, “I don’t want to be a part of few films like a superstar but want to be in several projects in diverse roles.”
Vikrant who was also seen in cameo roles in films like ‘Fan’ and ‘Mardaani’ has recently garnered praise for his role Argho Chowdhary in the MX Player series Hello Mini 3. “Argho is Hiya Chowdhary’s brother in the series. In the previous season, we see that Hiya develops an app called ‘Dare/Defy’, and the lead actor Rivanah Banerjee alias Mini sort of takes the credit for the app. But Hiya is unable to take that and eventually decides to take her own life and that is when her cousin brother Argho, played by me, who also is Mini’s boss at work confronts her about the issue,” explains Vikrant talking about his role in Hello Mini 3. The role begins with a positive note, however, as Argho gets to know about Mini betraying his sister, his role gets a bit shady.
Rewinding a bit in his life, the actor who got an opportunity to work with actors like Akshay Kumar, Shahrukh Khan, and Rani Mukherjee, says it was a ‘star-struck moment’ for him. “I have grown up watching their films and to meet them in the first place was a great awestruck fan moment. But when the shoot begins, I could isolate from that feeling and just see them as co-actors working on a scene,” he shares.
Being an outsider, the actor feels it is definitely tough to crack a great role. However, he feels the emergence of digital space has given many newcomers an opportunity to work and showcase their acting skills while also diminishing the gap between superstars and other actors. “Now, there is plenty of work. In the past year, several scripts have been written and made ready. Many filmmakers want to work with new stories and scriptwriters. There is work, but I think you reach where you have to reach in your own time,” says Vikrant.
The actor will next be seen as a cop in the upcoming Amazon Prime series ‘Fallen’ along with Sonakshi Sinha and Vijay Varma.
