Kothagudem: A crocodile that strayed into the village was killed by residents at Rajupet in Bhadrachalam mandal in the district on Friday night. According to forest officials the creature entered the village during late night hours from a drain close to river Godavari. The local youth who spotted it have smashed its head with stones and left it dead.

When contacted the local forest divisional officer Babu said the area where the incident took place falls into Andhra Pradesh and the forest officials from AP would look into the matter. It might be noted that Rajupet village was divided into two parts when seven mandals from Telangana were merged with Andhra Pradesh following AP Reorganisation. A road divides the village with one side in Telangana and the other in Anahdra Pradesh.
