Villagers of Adilabad plant 500 saplings to mark K Chandrashekhar Rao’s birthday
Under the leadership of Sarpanch Gadge Meenakshi, the residents gathered on a vacant plot and planted saplings, extending birthday wishes to Rao. They committed to caring for each sapling by watering and nurturing them regularly. Additionally, they pledged to continue the Telanganaku Haritha Haram initiative, launched by the former Chief Minister, to promote greenery for future generations.

Adilabad: Residents planted 500 mango and palm oil plants to mark the birthday of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao at the model village Mukhra (K) in Echoda mandal on Sunday.
Led by Sarpanch Gadge Meenakshi, the residents descended on an empty piece of land and planted the saplings. They conveyed birthday wishes to Rao. They pledged to protect every sapling by watering and nurturing. They vowed to carry forward the green drive, Telanganaku Haritha Haram, initiated by the former Chief Minister, for future generations.
MPTC member G Subhash, Tirupathi, Prahlad, Sriram, Dattu, Tulasiram and women took part in the plantation.
It may be recalled that the villagers from all walks of life accepted the Green India Challenge conceived by former Rajya Sabha member J Santosh Kumar and voluntarily took part in the initiative by planting 1 lakh saplings in piece of 10 acres of land located in Brihit Palle Prakruthi Vanam in a phased manner.
Mukhra (K) bags five national awards
To its credit, Mukhra (K) won five national awards. It received the national-level Gram Urja Swaraj Vishesh award and a cash incentive of Rs 50 lakh from Union Panchayat Raj minister Giri Raj Singh at National Panchayat Awards-2023 on April 27, 2023. It was one of the three villages in the country to have been chosen for the Gram Urja Swaraj Vishesh award.
The model village bagged Swacch Sujal Shakti Samman in 2023, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Shashaktikaran Purashkar-2022 for effectively implementing various schemes and Biodiversity award in 2022 and Swachh Sarvekshan Award in 2020. It also won three awards at the national Panchayat Awards Ceremony 2021-22 organised on the premises of Prof Jayashankar Telangana State Agriculture University in Hyderabad on March 31 in 2024.
