Villagers thrash bike thieves, attempt to set one ablaze in Medak

A tense situation unfolded in Vadiyaram village, Medak, when two men were caught attempting to steal a motorcycle. The accused duo were beaten by locals, and in a shocking escalation, one of them was doused with petrol and set ablaze.

Medak: Villagers attempted to set a thief ablaze after catching two men trying to steal a motorcycle at Vadiyaram village in Chegunta mandal on Saturday evening.

The accused were identified as Yohan and Mahipal, residents of Jangarai village. According to Chegunta police, the duo tried to steal a bike when locals caught them red-handed and thrashed them severely. In a shocking turn, some villagers doused Yohan with petrol from a bottle found in his pocket and set him on fire.

Other locals, however, rushed to his rescue and extinguished the flames. Yohan was first shifted to the government hospital in Toopran and later moved to Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad.

Meanwhile, a police team led by DSP Narendar Javvaji visited the scene and interacted with villagers. An investigation is underway.
