Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Residents of Kheemanaik Thanda and Loddiguda villages in Lingapur mandal staged a protest on Friday, threatening to boycott upcoming local body elections unless road access to their villages is ensured.
The villagers staged a sit-in on the road at Loddiguda, expressing anguish over their isolation during the monsoon season due to the absence of proper road connectivity. They alleged that the lack of infrastructure had led to tragic incidents, including the deaths of women and children who could not be shifted to government hospitals in time due to delayed transport.
Raising slogans against the government, the residents demanded urgent action to resolve their long-pending issue. They said they would abstain from voting in the forthcoming elections if the road facility was not provided.
However, the protest was called off after local officials assured them that the matter would be taken up with higher authorities for immediate resolution.
