Viral fever, Influenza-Like Illness cases decline compared to last year: Telangana DPH
The Directorate of Public Health (DPH) and Family Welfare has said Telangana recorded a decline in both seasonal viral fever and Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) cases during October 1-13 compared to the corresponding period last year.
Hyderabad: The Directorate of Public Health (DPH) and Family Welfare on Wednesday said that seasonal viral fever and Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) cases in Telangana are lower than those recorded last year.
Responding to a news report ‘Fevers, influenza cases surge in Hyderabad hospitals’, which appeared on this news portal on Wednesday, October 13, the DPH said that there is a 11.24 percent decrease in viral fever cases and a 29.34 percent drop in ILI cases between October 1 and October 13 compared to the same period in 2025.
The comparative data indicates that viral fever cases fell from 69,300 in 2025 to 61,510 in 2026, while ILI cases dropped from 1,612 to 1,139 over the same timeframe, DPH said. Health officials noted that the current epidemiological trend reflects a controlled seasonal burden rather than a cause for alarm.
The DPH stated that all government hospitals are fully equipped with necessary medicines, diagnostic kits, and staff to handle outpatient footfall.
