Visakhapatnam: Champion athlete Jyothi Yarraji’s mother felicitated as part of Mother Day celebrations

It may be mentioned here that Jyothi’s father Suryanarayana was a security guard and mother worked as a domestic help and the parents despite their acute hardship supported Jyothi’s passion towards athletics.

Hyderabad: In a welcome gesture, Laqshya Badminton Academy and Vizag Profiles Pvt Ltd felicitated Mrs Kumari, mother of champion athlete Jyothi Yarraji who was an Asiad silver medallist (100m hurdles) and Asian athletics gold medallist besides being winner of many international medals, as part of the Mother Day celebrations in Visakhapatnam.

In fact, Jyothi was trained for long by SAI athletics coach N Ramesh in Hyderabad before she joined Reliance Athletics High Performance Centre in Bhubaneswar under the mentorship of British coach James Hillier.

Speaking on the occasion, Jyothi’s mother advised all the parents to encourage the child’s wish and interest in spite of hurdles in life. “Determination and discipline will take them to the highest level,” she said.

Mrs Padma, wife of Mr B Suresh kumar, CMD, Mrs Rajya laxmi & Mr VV Krishna Rao, Director Vizag Profiles, felicitated the proud mother.

Vizag District Athletics Association secretary Narayana Rao was among those present.
