Visakhapatnam: Police raid ‘Prema Swaroopi Ministries’, four persons arrested
Visakhapatnam: Four persons have been arrested in connection with sexual harassment and cheating by a pastor Prema Das of `Prema Swaroop Ministries’ in Payakaraopeta in the district.
On a complaint from one of the victims, police sealed the ministries building and sent home eight of the 30 inmates –men and women, by two special buses on Friday night while about 20 of them had refused to leave the place.
According to police, Ambati Anil Kumar of Krishnalanka in Krishna district, who was working as a TTE in the railways, resigned from his job, left his family and settled in Payakaraopeta in the name of religion which he found very lucrative.
He had launched a YouTube channel in the name of religion and conducted online prayers for the suffering, unemployed, and patients. People fell for his suave talk and parted with lakhs of rupees on his promise of getting jobs, and remedies for ills.
Prema Das built a two-storied Ashram and lived with a woman, Rajeswari, from East Godavari district. He also allegedly subjected many women to sexual harassment. Police are also searching for Rajeswari who is at large and began investigation.
