Vishnu Vardhan Reddy to be top Indian diplomat in Dubai

Dubai: Seasoned diplomat Dr. E. Vishnu Vardhan Reddy is likely to be appointed as India’s top diplomat in Dubai. Reddy, a 2008-batch IFS, is set to be Indian Consul General in Dubai, according to sources.A native of Warangal district in Telangana and an alumnus of AIIMS in New Delhi, Vishnu Vardhan Reddy was with Telangana state government on deputation where he served as the Special Secretary for Investment Promotion and External Engagements.
He also worked as Regional Passport Officer in Hyderabad; he held different positions in various countries in Europe and Latin America besides in the United Nations. However, this will be his maiden posting in the Arabian Gulf region. If the appointment is formally announced, Reddy will become the first official from Telangana to serve as India’s Consul General in Dubai.
UAE, where Dubai is an important pillar and part, ranks India’s second largest export destination and third largest trading partner. Nearly 40 lakh Indians, majority of them hailing from Kerala and Telangana, live in UAE and majority of them concentrated in the emirate of Dubai.
The Indian Mission in Dubai is considered the busiest one in the world.
