London: Chinese smartphone maker Vivo on Wednesday announced its entry into the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Poland as well as Spain with the launch of the ‘X51 5G’ flagship and mid-range ‘Y’-series smartphones.

Vivo said its European launch followed extensive preparations, including research and interviews, with 9,000 people across the continent.

“We are truly excited to come to Europe, to take this opportunity to officially introduce ourselves and our first product line-up for the European markets. This has been a challenging year for people and businesses around the globe, and many things have changed,” Denny Deng, Vice-President, President of European Business at Vivo, said in a statement.

Unlike, the X50 Pro which has a Snapdragon 865 processor, the X51 5G is powered by a Snapdragon 765G chipset.

It has a quad-camera setup on the back with a 48-megapixel (MP) main sensor, a 13MP depth sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide lens and an 8MP telephoto lens. It also comes with a 32MP selfie camera.

The smartphone features a 6.56-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a 4,315mAh battery with 33W fast charging.

The smartphone will be available for purchase in the UK from October 27 for 749 euros ($972).

Vivo also introduced the mid-range Y series, the Y70, Y20s and Y11s, all powered with Snapdragon chipsets.

The devices offer a 5000mAh battery said to “easily last for two days on a single charge”.

Y70 and Y20s will be available from October 29 priced at 279 euros and 149 euros respectively, with the Y11 due later.

The device maker also introduced the Wireless Sport and Vivo True Wireless Stereo (TWS) Earphones.

OPPO, OnePlus and Realme, which are Vivo’s sister brands, already have a strong presence on the continent.
