Hyderabad: Vladimir Putin, serving his second consecutive term as the President of Russia, signed a legislation on Monday that will enable him to be in power till 2036.

He first became the President of Russia in 1999 and since then, has served three six-year terms as the President, in between becoming the Prime Minister as well, and is currently serving his fourth term. Technically, he has been in power for over two decades now.

Before this new legislation, a President could serve a maximum of two consecutive six-year turns but with this amendment, he can serve for two additional consecutive terms. This means he can contest in 2024 and 2030 elections and by winning them, he can be the president till 2036, by which time he will be 83-years-old.

The legislation, apart from the political criticism, has triggered a tsunami of hilarious memes on social media. From some that show him awarding himself a medal, turning 8 into infinity, and more, the memes bring out the creativity of the makers, with one even comparing him to the inevitability of Thanos in the Marvel Universe.

Hey Vladimir, you’re only allowed to be president for 8 years.
