Hyderabad: As part of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme, a series of voter awareness initiatives are being conducted across the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency to encourage greater voter turnout in the by-election scheduled for November 11.
On Sunday, GHMC officials conducted rangoli competitions, LED displays, and information boards at major traffic junctions displaying polling dates and messages on voting awareness. Special outreach programmes were also being held to encourage women voters to participate actively in the electoral process, according to an official release.
Meanwhile, the District Election Officer, RV Karnan, said elaborate arrangements were being made to make every polling station PwD-friendly and fully accessible.
All 407 polling stations in constituency would be located on ground floor or road-level premises and equipped with ramps of proper gradient to facilitate easy movement of wheelchairs. PwD electors and senior citizens will be given top priority for entry and voting at polling booths, according to the official release issued on Sunday.
Dedicated transport and wheelchair facilities would be arranged at all polling stations. PwD electors can also pre-book assistance through the Divyang (Saksham) Module of ECINET, ensuring seamless access from home to polling booth and back.
