Voting gathers pace in erstwhile Adilabad district, 47.85 per cent turnout by 1 pm

Adilabad: Voting picked up pace by afternoon across 10 municipalities and one municipal corporation that went to the polls in the erstwhile Adilabad district, with electors turning out enthusiastically to cast their votes on Wednesday.
Officials said 2.87 lakh electors cast their votes out of a total of 6.70 lakh voters in 11 urban civic bodies, namely Mancherial Municipal Corporation, Bellampalli, Chennur, Kyathanpalli and Luxettipet, Adilabad, Asifabad, Kagaznagar, Nirmal, Bhainsa and Khanapur municipalities, registering an average polling of 47.85 per cent up to 1 pm.
Mancherial Municipal Corporation recorded 38.49 per cent polling, while Bellampalli, Chennur, Kyathanpalli and Luxettipet municipalities registered 50.40 per cent, 57.98 per cent, 51.75 per cent and 57.69 per cent respectively till 1 pm. Adilabad municipality recorded 44.44 per cent polling, Asifabad registered 61.72 per cent and Kagaznagar 43.89 per cent by 1 pm.
Similarly, Nirmal municipality witnessed 33.73 per cent polling, while Bhainsa and Khanapur recorded 42.81 per cent and 43.53 per cent respectively.
