For far too long I have watched from the sidelines, BUT NOT ANYMORE. This Paradigm hold good to all the voters who have attained the age of 18. In order to encourage more young voters to take part in the political process, Government of India has decided to celebrate January 25 every year as “National Voters’ Day”.

In view of the National Voters’ Day, the students of classes VIII and IX of Pallavi Model School, Alwal collaborated with each other to present a discerning programme, to bring in consciousness of being a powerful voter and exercise the duty with utmost responsibility towards the motherland. A special assembly was conducted on 22nd January 2021, virtually in Cisco Web EX client.

Bhavani of grade VIII was the host who led the programme with the address from the Principal Sunir Nagi, who emphasized the civil responsibility of every 18 year old how a ballot is more powerful than a bullet, followed by introduction on the importance and objective of Voters Day by Parinitha of class IX. In view of the Voters Day a debate was conducted on the topic “Can an 18-year-old decide the fate of the nation” The debaters – Ashritha, Ananya, Shubhanu from clas VIII expressed in favour of the motion while Pranav, Vaishnavi, Rithika voiced against the motion. A war of words was pleasantly witnessed with a decorum of speech with facts and statistics and shared their point of view for and against the motion heartily.

A mock ballot was conducted through Cisco Poll while Karthikeya and Madhini of Grade IX presented their campaign and manifesto to the class. The whole class participated in voting while spearing the nail with a drop of ink, the leader was declared on the go. The prominence of the ink on the nail was considered as the deciding factor of the nation. A dance performance enthralled the audience while Ashri swayed for Jaago India. Jayashree, Diana along with Sushmitha and Ritu the organizer of the day’s event were appreciated for the successful conduction of the programme.
