Hyderabad: In a sharp reminder to the government about the plight of farmers on a desperate wait for the promised loan waiver, BRS working president KT Rama Rao criticised the ruling Congress for its claims of providing 100 per cent debt relief to the peasant community in the State.

Questioning the integrity of the government on the implementation of the guarantees given by the Congress, he wanted to know whether lies become truth just because they are spoken in the Assembly.

He pointed out that farmers are still taking to the streets because the loan waiver has not been implemented. He challenged the government to prove its claim of 100 per cent loan waiver, stating that if they could, he would be ready to resign.

The government has not accepted this challenge and has failed to provide answers to the farmers. He questioned as to why the farmers would need to protest on the roads if the loan waiver had indeed been implemented.

In a post on X, the BRS leader shared a clipping from a vernacular daily that highlighted farmers squatting in the middle of the road, protesting against the government’s failure to fulfil its assurance of waiving loans within 100 days of assuming power.

He called for the fight against the government should begin from Indravelli, a land of struggles, and Adilabad, the mother of forests. He invited the government to settle the accounts of their so-called loan waiver in front of the farmers sitting on the Dhanora road.

He urged the people of Telangana to be wary of a government that has proven every guarantee it made to be a myth. Listing the unfulfilled promises by the Congress government, he stated that the assurance given for loan waiver proved to be a myth.

So is the case with Rythu Bharosa of Rs 7,500, one thola of gold, Rs 2,500 for women, Rs 4,000 support as Aasara pensions and Rs 6,000 as pension for the differently-abled. “Wake up Telangana, wake up!”, he appealed to the people calling them to action.
