Hyderabad: A two-judge panel of the Telangana High Court comprising Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice A Rajashekhar Reddy on Tuesday partly heard a batch of 32 writ appeals filed by Telangana State Wakf Board challenging the orders of a single judge of the High Court.
The single judge had allowed three batches of writ petitions, one pertaining to cancellation of the Occupancy Rights Certificates (ORCs) of the petitioners by the District Collector in Ranga Reddy East Division and the second batch pertaining to inclusion of petitioners’ lands situated at Mamidipally, Rangareddy district, in the Wakf Properties.
The third batch pertained to Wakf Board circular prohibiting registrations under Section 22-A of the Registration Act in Mamidipally. The single judge had allowed all the writ petitions in favour of the petitioners. The judge had observed that the Wakf Board proceedings were based on 1989 notification which was already set aside.
The panel adjourned the cases to Monday for further hearing and orders.
