Warangal: A policeman, who stole a seized motorcycle from the police station premises, where he was working, and sold it, has been taken into custody on charges of theft by Narsampet police on Monday.
Head Constable Ravinder was working at the Narsampet station had allegedly stolen the two-wheeler which was seized in connection with a theft case and sold it to another person. Police officials were checking the stolen and recovered vehicles on the station premises so that they could be deposited in the court. It was said that the officials were stunned to notice the vehicle missing from the police station premises, though it was seized after the arrest of the vehicle lifter. This prompted the police to launch a probe and soon it was found that the Head Constable had taken out the stolen vehicle from station premises and sold it.
Later, the erring Head Constable was taken into custody and interrogated about the bike. The HC had admitted that he had stolen the bike and sold it to a person from a Thanda. Subsequently, the police arrested both the policeman and the buyer of the bike and produced them before a court on Saturday. Though the police maintained secrecy in the arrest of the Head Constable, it came to light only on Monday.
