Warangal: Darthi Bachao activists urge people to protect environment

Warangal Urban: Social, environment and educational activist Mohammad Azam has stressed the urgent need for more measures to protect environment by the governments as well as the public.
Azam, who is the founding president of Dharti Bachao, an NGO, along with a few other members of the organisation conducted awareness programmes displaying the banners at the Kakatiya University (KU) campus here on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, Mohammad Azam, who is also a PhD scholar in the Department of English, KU, said that as a citizen, every person had a responsibility towards society.
“There is a need to raise awareness among the children on the measures to protect the environment from the school level. We need to keep natural resources such as air, soil and water pure for the benefit of the future generations on the earth,” he said and appreciated the countries like Finland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Brazil for their efforts to protect the environment by educating the children on the eco-friendly way of lifestyle.
Dharti Bachao, General Secretary, Madhu Ontela said that their movement would work with the activists of the environment and rejuvenate the forests. Sociology, PhD scholar. T Sambashiva Rao said that the NGOs, social workers, members of the civil societies should work together to bring about a change in the society by inculcating eco-friendly methods of lifestyle to the protect environment which is facing a grave threat from the so-called development. Davella Rakesh, Sorupaka Anil, Gangarapu Mallesham and others were present.
