Warangal: The Task Force police arrested four persons for their alleged involvement in preparation of spurious toddy during a raid on a toddy compound under Inthezargunj police station limits on Thursday.
According to a press note by the Task Force, Pogaku Sarangapani, who runs a toddy compound at Laxmipuram in Warangal, and three others were apprehended for preparing spurious toddy with chemicals and powders. “On interrogation, one of the accused Kamareddy Narender revealed that he had taken the compound on lease from one Sarangapani and since then he had been indulging in preparation of spurious toddy with ammonia, saccharin powder, soapberry and poster colours and selling the fake product to five shops i.e Ramakrishna of Kashibugga, Sambaiah of LB Nagar, Kalamma of Gutta, Ravi of Laxmipuram and Satyam of Under Bridge locality in Warangal at Rs 30 per packet, earning Rs 3,000 to 4,000 per day,” the Task Force police said.
Police recovered 300 litres of artificial toddy along with the material used in the preparation of toddy. The police also seized a two-heeler which is used for the transportation of toddy. The accused have been handed over to Inthezargunj police for further legal action. The arrested have been identified as Kamredddy Nagendra, Parakala Naveen Kumar, Godishala Yugender and Juluri Raju of Warangal. The owner of the compound Pogaku Sarangapani is absconding.
