Warangal: Four workers of the BJP who allegedly posted defamatory content on social media platforms about a TRS legislator were arrested by the police here on Wednesday. The arrested were Bandi Sadanandam, Vadde Ramesh, Vasantha Rao and Kadari Venkatesh. Three others, Sandeep Takur, Sunil Goud and Laxmi Veramallu, were absconding, police said.
Warangal Police Commissioner Dr Tarun Joshi told the media that the TRS MLA had rented a house in Kamalapur town during the recently held elections. However, the house owners rivals who detested the renting of the house to a TRS legislator, tried to damage the image of the house owner. They had reportedly made a video indicating an extra marital relations between the TRS leader and a woman of the house owner’s family.
“One of the accused Sandeep Takur made the video and circulated it in the WhatsApp groups in Huzurabad constituency and also in Hanamkonda district,” the CP said. He warned that stern action would be initiated against anyone trying to tarnish the image or character of individuals or institutions or organisations by making false allegations and spreading them through social media.
