Warangal: Internationally acclaimed micro artist from Warangal Mattewada Ajay Kumar created another wonder in the form of a micro sculpture in which he depicted the Supreme Court building and the 48th Chief Justice of India (CJI) N V Ramana, in the eye of a needle.

While the court building measures 1.4 mm in height and 1 mm in width with a national flag measuring 0.07 in height and 0.09 mm in width, the figurine of the CJI measures 1 mm in height and 0.25 mm in width with his name by the side. When the CJI inaugurated the court buildings complex here on Sunday, Ajay Kumar got the opportunity to present his micro work to him. Impressed by his craftsmanship, Justice Ramana, who used a microscope to see the creation in detail, showered praise on the artist and also felicitated him on the stage.

Telangana High Court Chief Justice Sathish Chandra Sharma, High Court judges Ujjal Bhuyan, Rajashekhara Reddy and P Naveen Rao were also all praise for Ajay Kumar on the occasion.

National Salt Satyagraha Memorial (NSSM), Dandi, Gujarat, coordinator Sethu Das of IIT Bombay contacted Ajay Kumar on learning, through media, about a micro sculpture of Dandi March -‘National Salt Satyagraha’, he created in the eye of a needle and requested Ajay to allow Dandi March micro art to be displayed permanently at NSSM. Responding to this, Ajay gifted the micro sculpture to the NSSM. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi who dedicated the Dandi March memorial to the nation in January 2019, appreciated Ajay Kumar for his amazing skills.

A goldsmith by profession, Ajay also won the first prize in an international micro sculpture contest called ‘Art in a capsule’ conducted in 2019. He won USD 5000 in prize money and a certificate of appreciation in the contest that witnessed the participation of 88 artists from all over India, the US and Europe.

The micro artist was among the five finalists in Global Arts Award-2020, Changhai organised in China in which around 150 artists from across the world participated.

Speaking to Telangana Today, Ajay Kumar said that he has been engaged in micro sculpture for the past 35 years and has set World Record, National Record and entered the Limca Book of Records five times for his miniature works.

“In 2019, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal, also felicitated me and recognised me as the 3rd Micro Sculptor in the world and presented a citation,” Ajay Kumar said adding that he had received accolades from a galaxy of VIPs including Chief Ministers, Prime Ministers and renowned persons for his work.
